Our chapter was created sometime in the 1980’s, as it was split into two separate chapters with the Northwest chapter being created at this time.
The Division of Girls and Women’s Sports(DGWS) had been in charge of the rating and certifying of field hockey officials until NJSIAA took over in the mid 1970’s. Jackie Fiala was our first President and a small group of officials wrote the original Constitution of NoE2 (Fiala, Clark, Riss, Collins and Blomberg). This small group also created rating sheets and regulations for newly certified officials.
Prior to NJSIAA qualified officials, ratings were USFHA Local B or Local A, Sectional B or A and National status. Officials could move up after being evaluated maintaining this rating for at least one season.
Ratings were acquired at a Play Day first held in Cedar Brook Park in N. Plainfield. This Play Day moved to S. Plainfield and currently is held in Madison, NJ with top teams from NJ competing as our chapters officials are rated, receiving feedback from experienced officials.
